Buying a Property in Greece 
The purchase of a property in Greece requires some standard costs that you should be aware of and are mentioned in brief below:
- Tax for Property Transfer:
- City plan properties: for the first 15,000€ of the property's value mentioned within the contract, the tax is calculated at a rate of 9% while for the rest of the amount the tax is calculated at a rate of 11%.
- Out of city plan properties: for the first 15,000€ of the property's value mentioned within the contract, the tax is calculated at a rate of 7% % while for the rest of the amount the tax is calculated at a rate of 9%.
- Notary's expenses: The cost is calculated at a rate of approximately 2% on the price mentioned within the contract.
- Lawyer's expenses: The cost is calculated at a rate of approximately 1,5% on the price mentioned within the contract.
- Transcription of the property in the Mortgage Office: the cost is calculated at a rate of 0,475% on the price mentioned within the contract.
- Brokerage Commission: The brokerage commission is calculated at a rate of 2% (plus 19% VAT) on the commercial-exact price of the property and not the one mentioned within the contract.
